Holden let go of her and looked at her affectionately. Then, he reached out, gently smoothened her hair, and said with a smile, “Since you’re here, you can stay with me in the afternoon. We’ll pick up our son from school together in the evening.”
Although he spoke very gently, there was a sense of unyielding toughness in his tone.
Holden held Ariana in his arms, rested his chin on her head, and pinched her cheek playfully. Ariana pulled back and said jokingly, “Why do you need me to accompany you at work? You are not a child anymore.”
“It’s not like that. I don’t want anyone else to accompany me. I only want you.”
